This regal 1926 Georgian home had become tired and antiquated. The challenge was to create a welcoming home that honored the history and period of the original architecture without feeling stodgy. New custom marble floors flow from the front door to the back. A chandelier from the original dining room was redesigned, scaling it down, removing extra crystals and chains to create a more refined modernized fixture and relocated to the foyer. We selected an antique alabaster pendant to provide a warm glow in the rear hall.

New custom doors and mill-work were designed to match the existing and seamlessly integrate the old and the new.

By opening up the back of the house with French doors that align with the front door, we created access and views to the patio and pool and flooded the space with natural light. The rear foyer  was reconfigured by relocating the powder room slightly, connecting the more private family spaces with arched doorways across the back of the house. The custom paneling and matching custom doors, when closed, allow the family spaces to be closed off during more formal parties and the powder room entrance is discrete.
